Transferring Outside Prescriptions for Oral Contraceptives

McKinley Health Center honors prescriptions for oral contraceptives, NuvaRing® and OrthoEvra® Patches from providers outside our system.  As long as your contraceptive method is stocked in our Pharmacy, we can fill your prescription.

FAX #: (217) 244-6309 - If possible, please have your provider include your student ID number.

Please DO NOT ask your outside provider to call in a prescription because the McKinley Pharmacy is unable to accept "call-in" prescriptions. Prescriptions that are faxed to McKinley should be ready for pick-up after 48 hours.  Call our Pharmacy before coming back to pick up your prescription, to make sure it is ready for you.  The Pharmacy can be reached at (217) 333-2710.  Birth control pills are available in a variety of brand and generic names.  If you do not see your prescription listed below, please call the Pharmacy at 333-2710.  We may not carry the specific brand name, but we may have the same prescription listed under a different name. If we do not have your particular pill, you may contact your provider and ask if they would consider changing your prescription to one of those we carry listed below.

FORMULARY TIER 1 – Available at $5.00 to registered students

FORMULARY TIER 2 – Available at $22.00 per cycle to registered students

INJECTABLE – Available at $22.00 per injection to registered students

NON-FORMULARY – Available at Market Cost per cycle to registered students

**Call Women's Health at 333-2700 and select Women’s Health for instructions; Depo-Provera® is not given by outside prescription or orders.

McKinley Pharmacy strives to keep costs as low as possible; however, prices are subject to change based on market. We cannot guarantee that some brands will not incur a price adjustment during the school year. If that should happen, we will communicate this change as soon as possible.

If you are a registered University of Illinois student and you have questions or concerns,
or need to make an appointment, please call: Dial-A-Nurse at 333-2700
