The Health Education Unit coordinates a variety of events and offers new and exciting experiences for students to enhance their quality of life. Our "Hot Topics" promotes events and highlights opportunities for students to meet personal wellness related needs.

 OASIS at the Illini Union

The OASIS is a center to relax, rejuvenate, and refresh your health.  It is a partnership between McKinley Health Center and the Illini Union.  McKinley SportWell Center, Health Resource Center and Relaxation Room are located on the lower level of the Illini Union in the OASIS.  A number of other services are available including BodyWork Associates, a Wellness Store which carries a variety of health and wellness topics, and a Multi-purpose Room for interactive group programming.  For hours of operation and further details refer to OASIS - Mind, Body, Spirit.

On-line Weight Management Class

New Interactive Program!
Longing to improve your eating and exercise habits?  This on-line program was designed to help UIUC students establish healthy dietary and physical activity habits.  There are two phases consisting of an on-line course and consultation with a nutrition and fitness expert.

 Relaxation Room at the OASIS

The Relaxation Room at the OASIS provides students with a 20 minute audio-visual guided imagery experience while relaxing through the practice of progressive muscle relaxation. View the captured beauty of natural scenes while taking a break from the hectic demands of your day to refresh & rejuvenate.

The OASIS at the Illini Union is located on the lower level by the food court. Visit McKinley's Stress Management program for additional services.

 Relaxation of the Mind & Body

Participants get a hands-on opportunity to practice various relaxation techniques and learn stress management tips. Trained facilitators lead the workshop and will assist in choosing relaxation techniques that you enjoy and identify new stress management skills to help with your busy schedule. The relaxation techniques include deep breathing, shoulder-neck massage, guided imagery, and progressive muscle relaxation.
